Parent Portal is an important tool that gives access to your student's current grades, discipline and attendance through the internet. Parents/guardians can create a confidential account for each student in the home that will allow you to view this information on your student anywhere you have internet access. Please contact NES to get your student's confidential Web ID and password then scan the QR code or click on the link below to be directed to the Parent Portal website. Instructions for creating an account are provided here and on the district website (www.newberry.k12.sc.us) under the Parent section. IMPORTANT UPDATE The Parent/Guardian Toolkit has been updated. The most recent changes are within the section about masks, especially masks with exhalation valves or vents. The changes state: The purpose of masks is to keep respiratory droplets from reaching others to aid with source control. Masks with one-way valves or vents allow exhaled air to be expelled out through holes in the material. This can allow exhaled respiratory droplets to reach others and potentially spread the COVID-19 virus. Therefore, CDC does not recommend using masks if they have an exhalation valve or vent. These type masks will not be allowed starting Monday, August 31, for staff or students. In order for your student to receive their technology device for both the eLearning and Hybrid models, you must sign the SDNC Technology Agreement form. You can electronically sign this form by clicking on the link below. At the bottom of the form you will notice two options. The first option is YES, you are agreeing and want your child to receive a SDNC device and the second option is, NO you do not want your child issued a SDNC device. We want to send devices home with your student on their LEAP day, however this form must be signed before we can do so. Parents of students in the School District of Newberry County are asked to complete one questionnaire per child to determine how they would like their child to return to school for the 2020-2021 school year. Option 1 allows parents the choice of sending their child to school on a Hybrid schedule – meeting in person 2 days per week and eLearning 3 days per week. Option 2 is for parents who wish to have their child participate in the Newberry ONE Institute for eLearning, a completely online option for a semester at a time. The questionnaire can be found at https://bit.ly/SDNCLearningPref and must be submitted prior to midnight on July 28, 2020.

In an effort to assess internet capabilities within our district, we are asking that all parents complete the following survey by Tuesday, April 14. Internet is defined as ability to use a desktop, laptop, or tablet at home. For the purpose of this survey, access to internet solely through a smart phone is NOT considered internet access. Please complete a separate survey for each child who attends a school in Newberry County. Even if you previously completed a survey through your school, please take a moment to provide the information requested at https://bit.ly/SDNCInternetSurvey.

CDC guidance discourages gathering or socializing anywhere. We encourage you to stay home as much as possible to decrease the spread of COVID19 in our community. It will take all of us working together to help slow this virus. More COVID19 information can be found at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/index.html
